Congregational Meeting

As most of you know, Missio Dei Church has officially entered into the process of transferring from the Reformed Church in America (RCA) to the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). The Consistory will be meeting with members of the Illiana-Florida Classis on August 25 to begin the next part of this transfer process, which is to,

“…to ascertain the basic facts and conditions underlying the petition, to reconcile any differences of opinion within the congregation and between the church and the denomination, explore the advantages and disadvantages of a withdrawal and the needs of both the church and the denomination, and endeavor to ascertain how Christ’s Kingdom may best be served in the matter.”

However, there is one more part of this process that needs to take place, and that involves the rest of Missio Dei Church. Therefore, we will be having a congregational meeting on Saturday, September 20. During this time, the same members from the Illiana-Florida Classis will be coming in to hear from Missio Dei Church regarding our desire to transfer from the RCA to the PCA

At the end of the Congregational Meeting, a vote by ballot will be taken to affirm the will of the congregation.

We hope to get more information regarding this meeting in the weeks to come. However, please mark your calendars for this congregational meeting.

*Covenant members, you are highly encouraged to attend this meeting as this meeting will mainly be about you.

**Regular attenders are more than welcome to come and be apart of this meeting and share your convictions at this meeting as well.

The Special Committee of the Illiana-Florida Classis has sent me their official letter to be shared with the entire congregation. This letter will also be sent to Covenant Members via USPS.

I was also notified that due to their interpretation of the BCO, they will not be permitting absentee ballots. If you are unable to attend the Congregational Meeting and therefore unable to cast a vote but would still like to communicate your thoughts, you can send you letter or email to:

Rev. Albert Vander Meer
1830 Offner Rd
Beecher, IL 60401

email: avandermeer42@gmail.com

Also, I have invited them to join us for breakfast at 8:30 AM so that they can informally get to know our church family. So, make sure you bring extra food and drink to be shared!
